Obla Awards Scholarship to Idoma First-Class Law Graduate

Chief Godwin Obla, SAN, has fulfilled his pledge to sponsor Ochanya, the first female of Idoma extraction to graduate with a first class from the Nigerian Law School, for her postgraduate studies abroad. Through the Godwin Obla Foundation, Obla paid £33,000 in tuition directly to Queen Mary University of London for an LLM in Artificial Intelligence and the Law.

Additionally, ₦25 million has been deposited into Ochanya’s personal account for her upkeep during her studies in the United Kingdom. Obla made this promise at a reception in Otukpo organized by the Association of Idoma Lawyers.

During the presentation ceremony in Abuja, Obla emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for the Idoma community and encouraged Ochanya to support others in the future. He also mentioned that she would be introduced to members of the Idoma community in the UK for guidance.

Professor Yakubu Ochefu commended the Foundation's efforts and urged Ochanya to focus on AI ethics from an African perspective.
