OceanHub Africa & Coca-Cola Foundation Launch $120K Initiative to Combat Plastic Pollution in Africa

OceanHub Africa and The Coca-Cola Foundation have unveiled a $120K Pan-African initiative to combat plastic pollution by fostering innovative business models and solutions. The project seeks to transition early-stage concepts into viable market solutions, with a goal of recycling 490 tons of plastic waste and generating 150 sustainable livelihoods in coastal urban African communities.

Jeff Denby, the Senior Director of Recycling Value Chain at The Coca-Cola Foundation, emphasized the urgency of addressing the plastic crisis, which disproportionately affects the continent. The initiative aims to contribute to a circular economy for plastics in Africa, with applications closing on February 15, 2026.

Entrepreneurs, startups, and researchers are encouraged to participate in developing scalable waste management solutions for Africa's mounting challenges.
