Sahara Foundation Launches Recycling Hub in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos to Promote Sustainable Waste Management

Sahara Foundation has inaugurated its 17th recycling hub in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable waste management, environmental protection, and community empowerment across Nigeria. The initiative aims to promote a circular economy, divert recyclable waste from landfills, improve resource recovery, and create income-generating opportunities from household waste.

Chidilim Menakaya, the Director of Sahara Group Foundation, highlighted the focus on practical, people-centered solutions. The hub aims to bring structured recycling closer to communities, empower residents to participate meaningfully in environmental protection, and create economic value.

Abdullahi Sesan, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, emphasized the hub's significance for the community, particularly due to its strategic location. Rita Idehai, the Chief Executive Officer of Ecobart, collaborated with Sahara Foundation in Ibeju Lekki to deliver scalable community-focused recycling solutions.
