Ochei Launches Youth Tennis Reforms in Nigeria

Victor Ochei, the former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, announced a new initiative aimed at boosting youth engagement in tennis across Nigeria during a global sports program appearance. He outlined the Nigeria Tennis Federation's (NTF) vision to transform tennis through innovative reforms and a long-term development strategy.

A key component of this strategy is the creation of a central registration platform for tennis players, which will assign unique identification numbers to registered players, facilitating the development of a comprehensive national database. Ochei emphasized the importance of early talent discovery, targeting children aged 4 to 18, and plans to establish a 10-year growth strategy for tennis from 2026 to 2036.

He also highlighted ongoing investments in youth empowerment sports programs, including sponsorship for athletes participating in international competitions. Furthermore, Ochei aims to promote unity and community development through annual tournaments and the establishment of sports development centers to nurture young athletes to professional standards.
