Van der Sar Discusses Onana's Manchester United Struggles

Edwin van der Sar, the former CEO of Ajax Amsterdam, expressed his views on André Onana's difficult career at Manchester United during an appearance on the overlap podcast hosted by Gari Neville. Onana, who joined Manchester United for a reported £47 million from Inter Milan in the summer of 2023, faced challenges that ultimately led to a season-long loan move to Trabzonspor in September 2023.

Van der Sar noted that while he believed Onana was a perfect fit for Manchester United, the goalkeeper's performance was marred by a significant mistake. He highlighted the ongoing instability in Manchester United's defense over the past six to seven years, which has complicated the goalkeeper's role.

Despite Onana's potential and previous success at Ajax, where he kept four clean sheets in 19 matches, the lack of stability in the team has hindered his performance and that of other players.
