Odegbami Advocates for Retired Players in Football Admin

Segun Odegbami, the former captain of Nigeria's Green Eagles, has called for an increased role for retired footballers in the administration of Nigerian football. This appeal was made during a chieftaincy title ceremony honoring Chief Success Akagburuonyi, who celebrated his 60th birthday in Aboh Mbaise, Imo State.

Odegbami emphasized the importance of leveraging the valuable field experience of retired players to address the challenges currently facing Nigerian football. He highlighted that the first proper decade of Nigerian football was marked by significant transformation and that the insights from experienced players are crucial for revitalizing the national team.

The event also included a thanksgiving service and a novelty match featuring at least 15 former Nigerian internationals, showcasing the community's commitment to honoring its football legends.
