Odigie-Oyegun Doubts Police Can Arrest Edo Gunmen

John Odigie-Oyegun, the national leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), voiced doubts regarding the police's capability to apprehend the gunmen who attacked the party's secretariat in Benin, Edo State, on Tuesday. During a South-South zonal leadership committee meeting, he stated, "I am not sure anyone will be arrested" in connection with the attack, highlighting the alarming nature of the event where armed individuals operated in broad daylight.

Odigie-Oyegun noted that no arrests had been made and expressed concern over the security agencies' effectiveness in responding to such incidents. He urged the government to foster peace and avoid violence as the ADC prepares for the upcoming elections in January.

Additionally, he called on party leaders and members to unite and learn from past experiences to ensure a peaceful electoral process. In a related note, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi announced his intention to run for the presidency in the next year's elections.
