Kogi State mourns former Governor Ibrahim Idris's death

Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, former governor of Kogi State from 2003 to 2012, passed away in a UK hospital while seeking medical treatment. His death was confirmed by the Kogi State Government through Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo expressed profound sorrow, declaring a three-day mourning period and a State Burial, with the government covering all expenses. Ododo visited Idris's residence in Abuja to commiserate with the family, highlighting Idris's significant contributions to infrastructure, education, and healthcare during his administration.

Idris, who served as governor for almost nine years, was the longest-serving governor of Kogi State and was known for his commitment to public service. He was born in 1949 in Icheke, Kogi State, and was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.

His administration is remembered for impactful policies and projects that shaped the state's development.
