Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu Becomes Nigeria's Foreign Affairs Minister

Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu officially assumed office as Nigeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs, following her elevation by President Bola Tinubu. She takes over from Yusuf Tuggar, who resigned on March 30 to pursue a governorship ambition in Bauchi State ahead of the 2027 elections.

The announcement was made in Abuja by Kimiebi Ebienfa, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Upon her arrival, Odumegwu-Ojukwu was welcomed by senior officials, including the Permanent Secretary Dunoma Ahm and heads of various agencies within the ministry.

In her statement, she expressed gratitude for the appointment and pledged to consolidate the achievements of the ministry under President Tinubu's administration. She emphasized the need for professionalism and efficiency in addressing global challenges and advancing Nigeria's interests internationally, particularly in protecting Nigerians abroad, promoting peace and security, and attracting foreign investment.
