Tuggar Resigns as Foreign Affairs Minister for 2027 Bid

Yusuf Tuggar officially confirmed his resignation from his position as Nigeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs, signaling his intent to contest for the governorship of Bauchi State in the upcoming 2027 elections. The resignation was confirmed in a statement released on Monday by Alkasim Abdulkadir, Special Adviser on Media and Communication Strategy.

Tuggar submitted his resignation letter to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, in line with President Bola Tinubu's directive for political appointees seeking elective office to step down by March 31. In his statement, Tuggar expressed gratitude to President Tinubu, the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the diplomatic community for their support throughout his tenure.

He highlighted notable achievements during his time in office, including advancing people-centered diplomacy, facilitating humanitarian evacuations, enhancing diaspora engagement, and promoting regional security cooperation.
