Odumegwu-Ojukwu Visits Nigerian Citizen In Benin Republic Prison

Nigerian pastor, Benjamin Egbaji, has been incarcerated in a Benin Republic prison for two years, facing charges including the alleged rape of a girl named Bright Sarah Karls in 2011. Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, visited Egbaji in prison, reaffirming the government's commitment to citizen diplomacy.

Egbaji's health has deteriorated during his time in prison, and he has been convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison, along with a fine. Egbaji, who has lived in Benin Republic for 30 years, ran a successful real estate firm and pastoral ministry.

Despite providing supporting documents to the court, Egbaji has faced challenges in his legal battle. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Nigerian Embassy have been made aware of his case, with efforts being made to ensure justice and protect Nigerian citizens abroad.
