Igoh Ogbu to Undergo Scan for Injury Ahead of Portugal Match

Igoh Ogbu, a defender for the Super Eagles, is set to undergo a scan in Lisbon on Monday to assess a suspected ruptured left Achilles tendon. The injury occurred during training on Saturday, which raises concerns about his availability for Nigeria's upcoming friendly match against Portugal.

The team’s media officer, Promis Efogh, confirmed that Ogbu will remain in the camp while further assessments are conducted. Ogbu has been a key player for Nigeria, featuring in their last three games, including a 45-minute appearance against Poland in Warsaw.

Coach Eric Chell has already limited player withdrawals due to injuries, leaving options like Calvin Bassey, Emmanuel Fernandez, and Semi Ajayi for the central back position. Portugal's coach, Roberto Martínez, has confirmed that four players, including Nuno Mendes and Vitinha, are expected to be available for the match against Nigeria, following their recent victory over Arsenal in the Champions League final.
