Iyabo Obasanjo Aims for Ogun State Governorship in 2027

Iyabo Obasanjo, the daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has publicly declared her ambition to become the next governor of Ogun State in the 2027 elections. During an interview on 103.7 FM Eagle7, she announced her return to active politics after a year away from the political scene.

Iyabo confirmed her full registration with the Rule Progress Congress and emphasized her focus on the governorship race, stating that her journey towards this goal is serious and dedicated. She has previously served as the Ogun State Commissioner for Health from 2003 to 2007 and represented the Ogun Central Senatorial District from 2007 to 2011.

Beyond her political career, she is known for her humanitarian work through the Iyaniwura Foundation, which supports vulnerable communities across various parts of Ogun State through health and social intervention programs. Her declaration has begun to attract endorsements from traditional institutions.
