Ogun Monarch Defends Gboyega Isiaka's 2027 Ambition

Oba Akintund Akinyemi, the monarch of the Yewa North Local Government Area in Ogun State, condemned the mockery directed at Gboyega Isiaka regarding his ambition to contest in the 2027 gubernatorial elections. In a statement issued on Thursday, Akinyemi described the ridicule as inappropriate and emphasized the need for political unity among aspirants.

He pointed out that many prominent politicians, including former President Muhammadu Buhari and Abraham Lincoln, faced multiple electoral defeats before achieving success. Akinyemi urged stakeholders to avoid unnecessary divisions and support Isiaka, who has a history of socio-economic contributions during his tenure as the managing director of Gatewai and as a lawmaker.

Isiaka, a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, previously contested for the governorship in 2011, 2015, and 2019 but faced defeats against candidates like Ibikunle Amosun and Dapo Abiodun. The monarch stressed that past electoral losses should not be seen as a measure of political competence and called for greater collaboration among opposition figures to improve future electoral outcomes.
