Hunye Files Lawsuit Against Adeola Over Electoral Declarations

Abayomi Hunye, a former governorship aspirant, has initiated legal proceedings against Senator Solomon Adeola, known as Yayi, at the Federal High Court in Abuja. Hunye's lawsuit seeks a judicial review of the electoral documents that Adeola submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to clarify the state of origin he declared in past elections.

Hunye's lead counsel, Olamide Victor, emphasized that the case does not challenge Adeola's Yewa ancestry but aims to assess the consistency of his statutory declarations. The suit arises amid the political rivalry for the APC governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 election in Ogun State.

Hunye clarified that he is not seeking to be declared the APC candidate but wants the court to examine the party's nomination process for compliance with electoral laws. Additionally, Hunye disputed the validity of his alleged suspension from the party, questioning the acceptance of his ₦50 million nomination fee after the purported suspension date.
