APC Leaders Threaten Hunye to Withdraw from Governorship Race

Abayomi Hunye, an Ogun State governorship aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC), alleged that certain party leaders threatened him to withdraw from the race for the 2027 governorship election. During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Hunye denied claims of presenting himself as the party's candidate and stated he is challenging the primary process.

He expressed his determination to seek justice, revealing that he has approached the court regarding the election outcome. Hunye questioned the APC's decision to sell him a ₦50 million nomination form and clear him for screening if a consensus had already been established for Senator Solomon Adeola, known as Yayi.

He claimed he was excluded from a meeting of former governors and faced threats from party leaders insisting that Yayi must be the sole candidate. The APC refuted Hunye’s claims, labeling him an impostor and asserting that Yayi is the legitimate candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

The APC National Secretariat and Ogun State Working Committee noted that Hunye was suspended from his party on April 7, 2026, for alleged anti-party activities.
