Ogun APC Aspirants Reject Salisu's Endorsement for Senate

Four aspirants contesting for the Ogun Central senatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have publicly rejected the endorsement of Sulaiman Afolabi Salisu as the consensus candidate for the 2027 elections. The aspirants, including former Senator Lanre Tejuoso, Olugbenga Obadara, Emmanuel Sofela, and Otunba Muraina Banjoko, insist that the decision should be made through a primary election.

This rejection follows a stakeholders' meeting held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, where the endorsement was announced by party leaders, including Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and APC Chairman Yemi Sanusi. Tejuoso, who represented Ogun Central in the Senate from 2015 to 2019, described the endorsement as unacceptable and against democratic practices, emphasizing that party members should determine their candidate.

The aspirants expressed their desire to serve the people of Ogun Central and criticized the endorsement as lacking support from the constituents. The meeting reportedly ended inconclusively, with former Governor Ibikunle Amosun's involvement in the situation being noted, although he denied pressuring any aspirants to withdraw from the race.
