APC Aspirants Reject Abiodun's Endorsement of Senator

On Thursday, during a stakeholders' meeting held at the MKO Abiola Sport Arena in Abeokuta, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun announced the endorsement of Senator Salisu Shuaibu as the consensus candidate for the Ogun Central senatorial district. This announcement faced immediate backlash from four aspirants, including Lanre Tejuoso and Olugbenga Obadara, who deemed the endorsement unacceptable and immoral.

They insisted that the decision should be left to the party members, emphasizing the need for democratic practices within the APC. The aspirants expressed their desire to serve the people and criticized the endorsement as contrary to the moral standards expected in the party.

Otunba Muraina Banjoko aligned with the dissenting aspirants, and a late-night meeting among them concluded without resolution. Former Governor Ibikunle Amosun, who has also obtained a nomination form for the Ogun Central race, has not publicly responded to the endorsement.

The situation reflects ongoing tensions within the APC regarding candidate selection ahead of the elections.
