Ogun Commissioner Applauds Health Fellowship Impact

Dr. Tomi Coker, the Ogun State Commissioner for Health, commended the National Health Fellowship Program during a graduation ceremony for the first cohort of 20 health fellows deployed across 20 local government areas in Ogun State. She emphasized the program's role in strengthening primary healthcare and advancing universal health coverage, which aligns with President Bola Tinubu's agenda.

The fellows are tasked with improving healthcare delivery, focusing on maternal and child health, and conducting outreach to treat diseases like malaria and hypertension. Coker noted that the fellows have reached 5,000 residents and distributed essential medicines free of charge.

Additionally, she highlighted the importance of hygiene interventions and educational campaigns in schools. The program also includes mentorship and professional growth opportunities for the fellows, with cash rewards for outstanding performance.

Coker described the fellows as critical to the success of national immunization efforts and overall healthcare service delivery in the state.
