Ogun Court Sentences Eight for Illegal Waste Disposal

On Friday, the Ogun State Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, sentenced eight individuals to community service for illegal waste disposal. The Ogun State Waste Management Authority, represented by Kehind Ogunsola, prosecuted the defendants on two counts of violating public health laws.

The individuals were apprehended for allegedly dumping refuse on public roads, specifically at Isal Igbein car wash in Abeokuta, which produced offensive odors and contributed to the spread of diseases like cholera. Justice K.

Araba found them guilty and ordered them to serve community service within the court premises. The convicted individuals included Oyebanjo Abidemi, Aminat Adewusi, Aminat Olarewaju, Omolana Olusola, Abiola Moridiya, Olaogun Mari, Abiodun Aromokun, and Iwenya Sylvest.

The court also directed that photographs of the offenders be displayed on the court's notice board. Farouk L.
