Ogun Customs Seizes N1.35bn Contraband in Two Months

The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Customs Service reported the seizure of contraband valued at N1.35 billion between February and March 2026. Controller Olukayode Afeni disclosed that the command generated revenue of N285,652,460 during this period, marking a 1.082% increase compared to N259,265,495 in the same timeframe last year.

The operation included the confiscation of two antiquities, 2,539 kegs of vegetable oil, 4,325 cartons of foreign spaghetti, 1,204 bags of foreign rice, and various other smuggled items. The command also recorded significant export activity, moving 95 metric tons of goods valued at N305,749,264.05.

Afeni emphasized the importance of these seizures in safeguarding local industries and public health, warning smugglers to desist from illegal activities. The command remains committed to monitoring and securing the country's borders against economic sabotage.
