ADC Panel Declares Ogundip Winner of Ogun Governorship Primary

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) faced controversy regarding its Ogun State governorship primary results. Adebimp Adelowo, the secretary of the Ogun State primary election committee, announced Lawal as the winner with 19,428 votes, defeating Dr. Biodun Collin Ogundip, who reportedly received 5,775 votes, and Dr. Mari Abolaji Odusina, who secured 4,825 votes.

However, Adeniyi Adam, the chairman of the ADC primary election committee, held a press conference in Abeokuta, dismissing the initial declaration and asserting that Ogundip was the true winner with 9,370 votes, while Lawal garnered 6,812 votes. The discrepancies arose from a review of the voting process, which led to the cancellation of results in Sagamu and Ijebu East due to alleged overvoting and mutilated result sheets.

A rerun election was subsequently conducted in Yewa South and Ado Odo Ota to ensure integrity. Adam emphasized that any declaration outside the official process was unauthorized and called for party unity and reconciliation among members.
