Ogun Government Urges Youths to Embrace Dialogue for Peace

The Ogun State Government has called on youths to take responsibility for peace and order as the 2027 election cycle approaches, emphasizing that dialogue is more productive than disruption. This charge was made by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, during the 2026 International Youth Day event organized by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in Abeokuta.

Talabi commended the NYCN's leadership and expressed confidence that the youth would avoid political bigotry. He highlighted that the government is incorporating youths into efforts to maintain law and order to prevent violence, stating, “As they say, build the youth, build the nation.” Talabi noted that the administration has achieved more through dialogue than confrontation.

The State Head of Service, Olanrewaju Saka, and NYCN state chairman, Akolawole Shoremi, also spoke, with Shoremi urging youths to avoid being used as political thugs and to engage in the electoral process by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
