The Ogun State government has announced the postponement of the inauguration of the Gateway International Airport, which was initially set for Thursday, April 2, 2026. This decision follows President Bola Tinubu's rescheduling of his visit to the state. A statement issued by Babatunde Olaotan, the special adviser to the governor, confirmed that the inauguration will now take place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the airport located on Iperu Ilishan Road, Ogun State, starting at 12:00 PM, with guest seating at 11:00 AM. The postponement is attributed to the President's need to first visit Jos, Plateau State, to commiserate with the victims of a recent deadly attack that resulted in the loss of at least 28 lives. The inauguration is expected to include the launch of two commercial aircraft for export and import operations and the establishment of a new federal operational unit for the Nigerian Customs Service.
