Ogun Students Back NANS Leader Amid Suspension Claims

Students in Ogun State have passed a vote of confidence in the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) leader, Comrade Franci Abiola. This decision was made during a press conference held in Abeokuta, attended by student union presidents and executives from accredited tertiary institutions across the state.

Senator Shina Ogunfowora from Tai Solarin Federal University of Education refuted claims of Abiola's suspension, labeling such reports as misleading and unconstitutional. He emphasized that there was no valid Senate sitting in Ogun State to deliberate on the removal of Abiola.

The meeting also ratified 12 accredited institutions in Ogun State, reaffirming that any institution not recognized by NANS would not be allowed to participate in NANS activities. The student leaders called for national intervention to clarify the official position of the national body and restore peace within Ogun State.

The resolution was jointly endorsed by student union presidents from various institutions, including Olabisi Onabanjo University and Ogun State Polytechnic.
