NANS Dissolves Ogun Student Leaders, Calls for Elections

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has officially dissolved the Ogun State Joint Campus Council, citing breaches of its constitution and deepening factional divisions. This decision, announced by NANS President Olushola Oladoja, mandates the establishment of a transitional committee to oversee fresh elections within 30 days.

The council's leadership was criticized for failing to convene necessary meetings and for allowing constitutional timelines to lapse, which posed a serious threat to the unity and operational coherence of NANS in Ogun State. The outgoing council was elected in February 2025, yet it did not adhere to the required 12-month tenure, entering a three-month transitional window without due process.

The transitional committee will be chaired by Vice President Akinbodun, with Adeyemi Ajasa serving as the secretary. NANS emphasized that the upcoming electoral process must adhere to principles of transparency, fairness, and credibility, warning against any deviations from these standards.
