Ogun NANS Leadership Vows to Combat Student Injustice

The newly elected leadership of the Ogun State chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), headed by Chairman Olabod Faruq, has committed to addressing injustices faced by students across the state. The election, which took place on Saturday, involved representatives from 13 accredited tertiary institutions and was praised for its transparency and credibility.

During a press conference on Sunday, Faruq highlighted that the victory represents a collective mandate aimed at uniting students and advocating for their rights. He condemned post-election violence, particularly an attack involving the Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Matters, Adeyemi Amoo, and expressed solidarity with the victims.

Faruq called for unity among stakeholders and emphasized the need for collaboration to tackle challenges faced by students. The convention drew notable figures from the student movement, including NANS National President Olushola Oladoja and Southwest Zonal Coordinator Adeyemo Kayod, who commended the new leadership's commitment to democratic ideals and student welfare.
