Ogun Targets 2,000km of Roads Before Abiodun's Exit

Ogun State has set a target to construct at least 2,000 kilometers of roads before the end of Governor Dapo Abiodun's tenure. Since 2019, the state has completed 1,600 kilometers of road construction.

Adedayo Akinsanya, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, announced this during an appearance on a media program. The road construction projects are currently ongoing across 20 local government areas, addressing the challenge of approximately 4,000 kilometers of bad roads inherited by the administration.

The strategy focuses on enhancing rural connectivity, food security corridors, and access to schools. Major projects include the reconstruction of 70 kilometers of the Ota-Abeokuta road and ongoing work in the Akute area.

Kayode Akinmad, the Governor's Special Adviser on Media Strategy, defended the administration's infrastructure drive, emphasizing that road projects are being evenly distributed across the state. The administration remains committed to transforming road infrastructure despite pressures related to Ogun State's proximity to Lagos.
