Ogun Plans 2,000km of New Roads Before Tenure Ends

Ogun State has set a target to complete 2,000 kilometers of road construction by the end of Governor Dapo Abiodun's tenure. Since 2019, the state has successfully constructed 1,600 kilometers of roads, focusing on improving infrastructure across 20 local government areas.

Adedayo Akinsanya, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, highlighted that the administration inherited 4,000 kilometers of bad roads and is implementing a strategy to tackle this challenge, emphasizing the importance of rural connectivity for food security and economic development. Major projects include the reconstruction of a 70-kilometer stretch of the Ota-Abeokuta road and ongoing work in areas such as Ado-Odo, Ifo, and Akute.

Kayode Akinmade, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media Strategy, defended the administration's infrastructure drive, asserting that road projects are being evenly distributed across the state. The administration remains committed to transforming Ogun State's road infrastructure despite criticisms regarding the pace of development.
