Bless Ogundiran, a 26-year-old sprinter, made headlines by clocking a world-leading time of 10.98 seconds in the women's 100m at the South Florida Invitational held on Saturday. She finished almost a second ahead of the competition, with Eseroghen Awusa from the University of Central Florida taking second place at 11.40 seconds and Jada Smith from Boston University finishing third at 11.57 seconds. Ogundiran's performance not only set a new school record but also came just a week after she broke the NAIA women's 100m record at the Embry-Riddle Classic, where she clocked 11.21 seconds, surpassing the previous mark of 11.28 seconds set by Jamaica's Jura Levi in 2014. In her Instagram post, Ogundiran expressed heartfelt gratitude to her coaches and family, emphasizing their unwavering support and belief in her abilities, which she credits for her success. When ratified by World Athletics, her time will tie with Jamaica's Shanoya Douglas for the world lead in the women's 100m.
