Ogunwol Aims to Elevate FUOYE to World-Class Status

Professor Joshua Ogunwol recently assumed office as the fifth Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) on February 1. He shared his vision to transform FUOYE into a world-class research university over the next five years.

His administration plans to implement a 25-year strategic plan from 2026 to 2050, with the first five-year cycle focusing on 2026 to 2030. Ogunwol aims to enhance the university's operational agility through a faculty-based model and digitalization, while also addressing inherent challenges.

His administration will prioritize achieving a rebranding of FUOYE, securing research funding, and building global collaborations. Additionally, Ogunwol plans to implement technology-driven, student-centered pedagogies and establish community engagement programs to foster mutual respect and partnerships with local communities.

His initiatives include developing local agricultural businesses and enhancing the university's income-generating capacity through various projects, including a flagship nutraceutical initiative.
