Ohanaeze Ndigbo Confirms Nnamdi Kanu's Leadership Status

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural group, has clarified that reports claiming the suspension of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), are invalid. The organization, represented by Deputy President General Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and Deputy Secretary General Prof. Chibuikeya Achoakawa, stated that Kanu remains a recognized leader within the group.

They emphasized that any claims of suspension lack communal backing and are not legitimate. Ohanaeze warned that internal disputes could jeopardize the fragile peace in the Southeast, which has seen a rise in local business activities and investor confidence over the past eleven months.

The group urged IPOB members to resolve issues quietly rather than through public arguments, which could create insecurity. They also committed to working behind the scenes to support the release of detained pro-Biafra agitators and to prevent actions that could lead to insecurity in Igboland.
