Obi and Kwankwaso Exit ADC Amid Internal Crises

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, and Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State, have left the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Yaro, a coordinator of the OK Movement, explained that their exit was influenced by internal crises within the ADC and alleged external interference affecting the party's strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Yaro referenced a recent Supreme Court ruling regarding ADC leadership disputes as a key reason for their departure, expressing distrust in the lower court processes and alleging judicial interference. He claimed that judges received benefits from the authorities, contributing to the internal issues within the ADC.

The OK Movement had initially promised a transparent process, including direct primaries and consensus, but Yaro insisted that these promises were not upheld. Obi's focus remains on contesting for the presidency rather than settling for a vice-presidential slot, supported by strong grassroots backing, despite criticisms regarding the coalition's presidential ticket.
