OK Movement Declares Independence Amid Obi's Objections

The OK Movement, led by National Director-General John Ughulu, has asserted its autonomy following objections from Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), regarding the establishment of a Presidential Campaign Council. Obi stated that the OK Movement should operate with the express approval of both him and Kwankwaso, emphasizing that support groups should not assume roles of the party.

In response, Ughulu clarified that the OK Movement's internal structure is independent of the NDC, and its leadership decisions do not require validation from the party. He stated that the movement recognizes candidates under the NDC as potential beneficiaries of its grassroots mobilization efforts but does not claim superiority over the NDC.

Ughulu emphasized that the OK Movement operates under its own principles and does not require financial support from the NDC. He reiterated the movement's commitment to clarity and respect for institutional independence while remaining open to constructive engagement with the NDC.
