Okomu Oil and PIND Empower Edo Farmers with Training

Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc and the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND) trained 500 farmers from 17 communities in Edo State on climate-smart farming practices. This initiative took place during two Green Field Days on September 28 and 29, 2026, in Udo and Odighi, under the theme “From Training to Adoption: Promoting Improved and Climate-Smart Agricultural Practices.” The program is part of the PIND/Okomu Corporate Social Responsibility Livelihood Project, which aims to demonstrate improved agricultural practices that can enhance productivity and profitability.
During the events, PIND’s Technical Service Providers showcased improved cassava stems and farming techniques. Farmers received inputs such as cassava stems, fertilizers, and herbicides.
Sam Aisien, Smallholder Scheme Manager at Okomu Oil, stated the initiative aims to strengthen livelihoods in local communities. Misan Edema-Sillo from PIND emphasized the importance of applying learned practices.
The initiative also connected farmers with Local Technical Service Providers for ongoing support, aiming to sustain the introduced practices beyond project support.
