Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc, in collaboration with the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND), ETIN Power Limited, and Gbelebu Community, inaugurated a solar hybrid mini-grid on Friday in Gbelebu Community, Ovia South-West Local Government Area, Edo State. The facility features 61kWp of solar generation capacity, a 50kW inverter, and 154kWh of battery storage, designed to supply electricity to 100 households and micro, small, and medium enterprises.

The project was funded through Okomu’s Corporate Social Responsibility program and delivered under a framework established in May 2026.

The mini-grid was inaugurated by Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, represented by Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa. Dr. Graham Hefer, Managing Director of Okomu, emphasized the project’s role in sustainable community development.

PIND’s Programs Director, Dr. Effiong Essien, and ETIN Power's CEO, Prof. Yinka Omorogbe, also spoke on the importance of community stewardship for the project's success.
