Okonjo-Iweala to Receive Sustainable Peace Award in Nigeria

The Peace Building Development Consult (PBDC) will honor Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, along with governors from various states and service chiefs with Sustainable Peace Awards.

Kayode Bolaji, the Convener of PBDC, announced this initiative to recognize individuals who have dedicated their lives to promoting sustainable peace in Nigeria. Established in 2004, PBDC advocates for a deeper understanding of peace and reconciliation, particularly focusing on Africa.

Bolaji emphasized the importance of encouraging those who contribute to peace, stating that Nigeria would be in a worse situation without their efforts. He called for more support for peacebuilding initiatives, highlighting that recognizing these individuals is crucial for sustaining their commitment.

The awards aim to celebrate those making sacrifices for peace, especially during tense times in the country, and to inspire others to join in these efforts.
