Adeleke Accuses Police of Transferring Accord Party Members

Osun State Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke alleged that members of the Accord Party arrested by the Osun State Police Command were transferred to Abuja and Nasarawa State for detention rather than being prosecuted in Osun. Speaking at the National Peace Committee stakeholders’ meeting in Osogbo on Thursday, he questioned this transfer, asserting that both the Federal and State High Courts in Osun were capable of handling any criminal prosecution.

Adeleke appealed to the National Peace Committee to urge the Inspector-General of Police to return the detainees to Osun for trial. He expressed concern over escalating political violence ahead of the August 15 governorship election, claiming that some Accord Party members were being targeted in collaboration with the opposition All Progressives Congress.

He reported that several members of his party had been killed or injured in recent attacks, and many others arrested and transferred out of state. Adeleke called for neutrality from the police and urged all stakeholders to ensure a fair electoral process.
