ADC Demands Probe of INEC, Lagos CP Over Partisan Activities

On Thursday, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) accused the government led by President Bola Tinubu of compromising the neutrality of key democratic institutions, specifically the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Nigeria Police Force, ahead of the 2027 general elections. The ADC raised concerns regarding reports that a faction of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), allegedly linked to MC Oluomo, would be engaged by INEC for election logistics.

Additionally, they condemned the attendance of Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, at the launch of the pro-Tinubu City Boy Movement. ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, stated that these developments indicate a dangerous merging of state institutions with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The ADC emphasized that any involvement of partisan individuals in handling sensitive electoral materials could undermine public confidence in the electoral process. They also criticized a remark by President Tinubu suggesting that “all is fair in war,” which they believe has increased public anxiety regarding the upcoming elections.
