Okowa Announces Senate Bid for Delta North in 2027

Ifeanyi Okowa, the immediate past governor of Delta State, has announced his intention to run for the Delta North senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections under the platform of the Progressive Congress. This declaration was made during a visit to Asaba, where he addressed a delegation of political leaders from the Delta North senatorial district.

The delegation, led by the current Deputy Governor Mondai Onyem, included influential political stakeholders from nine local government areas, with over 50 leaders in attendance. They expressed dissatisfaction with the current representation in the Senate and emphasized the need for experienced and influential voices to advocate for the Anioma people at the national level.

Okowa, recognized as a consensus builder, highlighted his past political relationships and support from the Anioma people during his previous electoral campaigns. The motion to support his senatorial bid received unanimous approval from the gathered leaders, who pledged to work together for a successful campaign.
