Edo Governor Okpebholo Unveils Plans for Power Supply Boost

During the 52nd annual convention of the Uromi Community Association held in Uromi City Hall, Edo State Governor Mondai Okpebholo disclosed strategies to decentralize power supply to improve electricity efficiency across the state. He highlighted that electricity has become a major challenge for the people of Edo due to the erratic supply from the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), which negatively impacts businesses.

Okpebholo assured residents of equitable development and emphasized that his administration is committed to transforming the state through various development projects across the three senatorial districts. He flagged off a 100MW electricity project in Benin City and another in Edo Central, aimed at decentralizing the power sector to ensure residents enjoy reliable electricity.

The governor also mentioned the recent groundbreaking ceremony for a 100MW power generation plant and a 300 metric ton per day LNG facility at Taihu Industrial Park in Ologbo, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area, further demonstrating his commitment to improving electricity supply.
