Edo Governor Promises Five-Minute Security Response

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has pledged that residents will experience improved security within the next month, with security agencies able to respond to threats anywhere in the state within five minutes. This announcement was made during a service at Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel, in Benin City.

Okpebholo stated that his administration is working to enhance security measures, including the introduction of dedicated emergency telephone numbers for residents to seek immediate assistance from security agencies. The governor's broader objective is to leave Edo safer, focusing on issues like kidnapping and robbery.

Previous efforts have included strengthening the state's security structure and deploying personnel to vulnerable areas. In June, Edo State Commissioner for Public Safety and Security, Festus Ebea, reported that the state was training 1,000 forest guards to enhance security in forest areas.

Okpebholo's commitment to security was further supported by Pastor Emmanuel Ebiye, who praised the governor's developmental efforts.
