Edo Governor Okpebholo Calls for Peace to Combat Crime

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo called on residents to support initiatives aimed at combating kidnapping and other crimes during a program organized by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Benin. The event commemorated the International Day of Peace with the theme, “Invest in Peace, for Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day.” Represented by the Commissioner for Security and Public Safety, Festus Ebea, Okpebholo assured citizens that security agencies are actively working with the state government to ensure safety.

He highlighted the administration's success in addressing cultism and noted that police-led bush combing operations are now a weekly effort to combat kidnapping. The governor also mentioned the establishment of a special court to try suspected cultists and kidnappers.

He urged citizens to embrace peace and support government efforts, while acknowledging President Bola Tinubu's commitment to tackling crime at the national level.
