Edo Governor Rewards Edo Queens N50m for WAFU-B Win

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo announced a reward of N50 million for the Edo Queens following their victory over Ghanaian side Ampem Darkoa Ladies in the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League. The announcement was made during a presentation ceremony for the 2025/26 Nigeria Women’s Football League and the 2026 WAFU-B titles at the Festival Hall, Government House, Benin, on Tuesday.

The Edo Queens secured their championship by drawing 2-2 with Ampem Darkoa Ladies after regulation time and winning 4-1 in the penalty shootout. Governor Okpebholo expressed pride in the team's performance, highlighting the goalkeeper's crucial saves during the shootout.

He commended the players for their determination and the coaching staff for their contributions. Amadin Enabulele, Chairman of the Edo Sports Commission, also praised the team's resilience and the management's efforts in achieving this significant milestone for Edo State.
