NSCDC Confirms Four Deaths in Okrika Pipeline Incident

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) confirmed the sighting of four corpses in connection with an incident at Jetty Creeks in Okrika Local Government Area, Rivers State. NSCDC spokesperson Olufemi Ayodele reported that the identities of the deceased, including Taribo Levia, are still being verified.

The command emphasized that initial casualty figures may have been overstated and that further investigations are underway to determine the causes of the incident and whether anyone remains unaccounted for. Indorama Petrochemical Limited, represented by Major Fidelis Akando (rtd.), denied any connection to the fatalities, stating that he had been present at the site for operations related to the lifting of cracked C5 and that heavy security was in place.

The NSCDC has warned against vandalism and illegal tampering with petroleum facilities in the area.
