Olawepo-Hashim Calls for Nationwide Rescue Operations

Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, a former presidential candidate, called on the Federal Government to replicate the successful rescue operation of a kidnapped victim in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State, throughout Nigeria.

He commended the Nigerian Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, and the Department of State Services for their efforts in rescuing the victim after 50 days in captivity. Olawepo-Hashim described the operation as evidence of Nigeria's security agencies' capability to defeat kidnapping and criminal groups when supported by strong political leadership.

He expressed concern about the lack of clarity and unwavering political direction often seen in Nigeria's defense forces. He recalled the success of the Nigerian military in peacekeeping missions in Liberia and Sierra Leone and stressed the importance of a coordinated national strategy to dismantle terrorist and kidnapping networks.

Olawepo-Hashim emphasized that sustained operations are essential to restore public confidence and improve security across Nigeria, particularly in states like Kwara, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau, and Kebbi, where kidnappings continue to occur.
