Olawepo-Hashim Promises Support for Nigerian Refineries

Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, the Accord Party presidential candidate, stated that under his administration, Nigerian refineries would have access to Nigerian crude oil at a strategic domestic price. This initiative aims to give local refineries a competitive edge in sub-regional markets and position Nigeria as a global energy power.

He made these declarations during the Diaspora Dialogue in Ilorin, Kwara State, focusing on Fuel Subsidy and the Politics of 2027. Olawepo-Hashim criticized Nigeria's historical approach of treating crude oil primarily as an export commodity, advocating for an "Energy First" policy to utilize crude as a foundation for national industrial power.

He emphasized that Nigerian refineries, including the Dangote Refinery, would benefit from a local pricing framework, allowing them to produce competitively and expand into international markets, starting with Africa.
