Olopade Appointed NSC Director General to Reform Sports

Bukola Olopade has been appointed as the Director General of the Nigeria Sports Commission (NSC) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with a mandate to reset and refocus Nigerian sports. Femi Adetula, a veteran broadcaster and former media officer for the Nigeria Olympic Committee, highlighted Olopade's strategic vision and leadership qualities in a press statement.

Olopade, known for his grassroots and elite sports development, has a history of impactful service, including two terms as the youth sports commissioner in Ogun State, where he successfully hosted the National Sports Festival. His tenure is marked by significant financial surpluses and the establishment of modern sports governance.

Olopade's initiatives include developing four standard stadia in Ogun State and organizing major sporting events, such as the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon. His leadership style emphasizes athlete welfare, collaboration with stakeholders, and reducing internal conflicts within sports federations, aiming for sustainable growth in Nigerian sports.
