Oloyede's Transformative Leadership at JAMB

Professor Ishaq Oloyede served as the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) until July 31, 2023. Appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in August 2016, Oloyede implemented transformative reforms that significantly improved JAMB's financial performance.

Under his leadership, JAMB remitted ₦50 billion to the national treasury from 2017 to 2022, a stark contrast to the ₦52 million remitted by his predecessors over 40 years. He also reduced the cost of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) forms by ₦1,500, benefiting parents.

Oloyede's reforms prompted President Buhari to direct the EFCC and ICPC to investigate previous administrations, resulting in 18 charges against former Registrar Professor Dibu Ojerinde. Oloyede also modernized the examination process by consolidating the Computer Based Test system, which effectively eliminated the paper-based examination and reduced cheating, ensuring a fairer assessment for candidates.
