The Alaafin of Oyo was notably absent at the inauguration, leading to a dispute over the rotational arrangement of the council's chairmanship.

Governor Makinde clarified that the rotation was agreed upon by the top three monarchs in the state. However, the Alaafin's media aide denied such an agreement, causing tension.
